Partner Institution
Dalhousie University hosts a number of cutting-edge research facilities that support clinical and biomechanical research into joint health. Its Joint Action Research Laboratory, led by faculty in the School of Physiotherapy, specializes in advanced rehabilitation science. The Dynamics of Human Motion Lab, housed in the School of Biomedical Engineering, provides top of the line infrastructure to support research into human musculoskeletal health and physical activity. The University is also home to the Dalhousie Pain Network, a group of established researchers from across Nova Scotia who are dedicated to investigating clinical interventions to chronic pain. Outside its campus, University researchers can tap into the region’s rich network of life science institutions, including the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the QEII Health Sciences Centre, the Biomedical Translational Imaging Centre, and the IWK Health Centre.

Spring Loaded grants funding to Dalhousie University to perform basic research and a literature review.
June 2014
Mitacs grants Dalhousie University funding to perform a pilot test on the effects of the Levitation knee brace in healthy individuals.
August 2016
Innovacorp grants funding to Dalhousie University and Spring Loaded to perform human performance testing on the Levitation knee brace.
October 2016
Human performance testing at the Joint Action Research laboratory commences. Research results are used internally to inform product development.
2020
Dr. Ivan Wong (Dalhousie University) conducts clinical case studies on the effects of a Levitation knee brace in patients who have undergone knee surgery. Case studies are ongoing.
